I've got many reasons to celebrate Earth Day but tomorrow will be extra special.
First is, after many more days than we imagined Cloud9 Fabrics' Beyond the Sea is due to be in our warehouse on Thursday! That means we'll be shipping like mad!
2nd, because it's also Bring Your Child to Work day, my son has agreed to be a part of Cloud9's excitement by helping us pack some boxes and stick on labels. I'm excited to have him see me do something besides sit at a computer.
The other great thing that's happening is this amazing collective giveaway conceptualized, organized and developized by Jan DiCintio from Daisy Janie fabrics... who is also expecting her first collection of organic cotton goods, Geo Grand sometime in May. Normally, I use thrifted sheets for most of my sewing (a lot of fabric grocery bags), but every now and then it's nice to have some new fabric.
I would love to win this, I have been a fan of your fabric for ages and to see them printed commercially has been fantastic! I am right into the idea of organic fabrics - we patchworkers don't really think a lot of the time about the problems growing cotton causes to the environment, so an organic range is a wonderful thing. Thanks for the chance!

Tomorrow, on Earth's 40th "Day", is my sweet son Ken's 43rd birthday. He was the sweetest, snuggliest baby, and even now, at
6'4", he still calls me mama! He makes the Earth a warmer place.
So pretty! I'm coming to realize more and more that earth conservation is about helping people as much as it is the environment. The planet doesn't need us, but we sure do need it!

Happy earth day! We are hoping for some weather in our parts so that we get outside and enjoy the day.
There is no substitute for nature, its beauty is boundless. Preserving it wonders is our duty.
Great giveaway. There are so many things we can do to reduce our impact, and many are so small, but they add up!
Perhaps not very original, but I would make napkins because I love to set a nice table (and not use paper napkins or towels all week long either) and I can never have too large of a collection of napkins!

I think earth day is great, my boys school has them all write promises on a leaf. one said he would try harder to pick up garbage when he see it outside, and my other decided he would monitor the lights in the house and turn what was not being used off on a regular basis. Pretty adventurous for four year olds :)
I love that Earth Day truly has covered the gambit now. I write a wedding blog and am making a conscious effort to make my wedding eco-friendly and trying to reduce our carbon footprint.
P.S. My wedding is where I would use these fabrics. I love making fabric flowers!

the earth is special, I'm rooted to it, I love that the snow is leaving early and I can squish through the mud in my rubber boots, the groundhog holes are dug in to the earth. I'm trying to grow my soil, rich fragrant earth!

Fabulous fabrics! Every day is earth day in our house. We've installed solar panels to heat our hot water to reduce the amount of electricity that we use. I try to do laundry only on days when I can hang it out to dry and avoid having to use the dryer.I'm also putting in a large vegetable garden this year so I can grow my own veggies and freeze what we don't eat so we can have them over the winter months.

I was just finishing high school when the first Earth Day occurred, and it just confirmed the way I'd been raised - to love the earth we were given and to take care of it. Now I am raising a daughter to love the earth as much I do. Reduce, reuse, and recycle!
