Giveaway | Epicerie Goodies

This giveaway I'm "mixing" it up a little with a giveaway for my mom's spice mixes.

Epicerie specializes in custom blended spice mixes with recipe included. In this time where Slow Food seems all the rage, she's been doing it this way for as long as I can remember. Mealtime at Mom's is no casual affair. Scratch that... even the Casual Affairs are something special, because she's a complete whiz at making something simple seem more complex. Take the Chicken Provencal or Curry... the recipe calls for a few fresh ingredients that almost anyone would have on hand, plus Epicerie's super mix of spices and voila... a meal you can hardly believe you've prepared with so little effort.

Epicerie offers a wide variety of recipe packets which are nice if you like an assortment- or as gifts (think housewarming, hostess, stocking stuffers, off to college, etc)- Encore! jars for when you can't get enough of a particular dish and a unique Recipe Greeting Card for those who'd like to send a little Slow Food by Slow Mail. Each packet is designed with her original photos or illustrations (yes, she's a Jill of all trades). She also carries a few other items, such as recipe cards with a traditional French motif and placecards.

Here's what's being offered:
Grand Prize is 8 pack assortment and 2 runners up will receive a 3 pack assortment- all with the recipes of your choosing from her shop.

Here's what we'd like from you:
Tell us what's your favorite item in the shop- could be a particular recipe or an item itself. In particular, if you'd let us know what's more appealing- packets or jars, that would be awesome.
Entry deadline is Tuesday Oct 20 9pm EST.
Anyone in the world can enter.
Please PLEASE leave contact info, else I may have to pick another winner (boo).

UPDATE 10/21/09-
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS AND THANKS FOR ENTERING!
GRAND PRIZE- BECKY
RUNNERS UP- JODI AND NIAMEY.

I absolutely love this idea! So often I'd like to make a new recipe, but I never have the right spices... having them already mixed in a packet would be perfect! I'm tempted by so many of them... particularly the masala chickpeas and the chicken curry.

I'm not sure which I prefer - packets or jars - probably the packets to start, and then after trying out a few I'd probably want to get a larger amount of it!

I love this idea as a hostess gift, because I never know what to give, and I think the packets fit better into that application. Still, my mouth is watering at the sounds of some of those recipes, so this would probably be one of those "get-a-bit-extra-to-keep-for-myself" situations. I'm especially loving the Paella de Barcelona at the moment.

They all sound delicious. With fall here the Sweet Potato and Peanut soup sounds good. I think both packets and jars are a good idea.

Totally, definitely jars! And the Sweet Potato and Peanut soup has my vote.

I love the idea of recipe greeting cards and the sweet potato and peanut soup sounds divine! I would start out getting packets until I found a recipe my family really enjoyed, and then I'd go for the jars.

Wonderful giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity!

Wow. What a great shop! I would definitely prefer the jars for myself. I do think and assortment pack with the envelopes would be fun, just to try a variety. I think the first thing I would try would be the ENCORE Spice Blends.

I love the packets simply for their esthetic value. So pretty to look at! I'm all about the assortment pack.

Ooooh, I think the Chili Con Carne spice blend sounds so yummy. Even though it never gets cold here in Tucson, hot food still sounds good.

Wow, these look fantastic! The lamb rub sounds excellent, and I love the packets. I'm glad I know about this now, I would definitely give this as a hostess gift. I'm already trying to think of who could benefit from this at the holidays....

What a talented family!!

Masala Chickpeas Spice Blend and Recipe looks wonderful as do the other blends.

I prefer small packets simply because the spices are usually more fresh.

I love the idea of packets of spices with recipes included - its like having your very own cooking class in the comfort of your own home! I am tempted by the Lamb rub and the Roasted Moroccan Veggies. It just seems so perfect now that the weather is getting crisper outside. My e-mail is liparker@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

I love this! This would be great with my "must learn to cook better" thing I've got going on! The packets would be a great way to try everything!

Thanks for doing this!

Definitely the Chicken Curry. Second would be the Pork Maman. As far as packets or jars, I think I would pick the jar based on the price. It's not clear whether the packets only make one recipes worth or more. I do wish they had the pretty patterns found on the packets though!

There are good recipes but i pick Roasted Moroccan Veggies Spice Blend, because sometimes i like to taste different flavors, and the Moroccan cuisine use colorful and unusual spices.
I prefer the packets, they are beautiful and to cook the look counts a lot to me!!!
The eyes eat, too.

I love the packets, especially the one for chickpea masala. I prefer the packets for one simple reason: I have my own spice jars on the side of my fridge!

First thing I thought was "my mom would LOVE these". I love the colorful packets and greeting cards. Even if I don't win this giveaway, I'll probably get something for my mom. Thanks for sharing.

I love the packets because they are so pretty and something I could keep on my bulletin board to decorate the kitchen. My favorite item is the greeting cards. They would be fun to send to those special friends who love to cook.

I love it. So creative! Packets are great as the pictures are beautiful and decorating my kitchen wall with it would rock but I think I would still lean toward the jars... call me traditional. I would love to have the "Paella de Barcelona Spice Blend and Recipe". I LOVE Paella but I never can find any saffron to make it. If the spice can replace the saffron that would be awesome! My contact info is lana822@gmail.com. Thanks for a great giveaway.

I love the idea of recipe greeting cards. They sound so much better than regular greeting cards! The Old Bay Crab and Corn Chowder and the Vegetarian Spice blend both look like something I'd like to try.

I love the look of the packets--they're beautiful. But practically, I'd prefer jars.

Thanks for such a great giveaway. It's making me hungry!

I definitely enjoyed the Chana Masala spice package I got from her a while back, but at this moment the chicken curry is sounding really good. Actually everything is...I'm starving and I literally started salivating when I was reading the options.

Like someone else said, I like the look of the packages but the jars are probably better for me to store.

Great giveaway, really hope I get this one!
