Mixed Notes | Weekend Edition

What a week, is all I can say. Whew. Today my youngest son and I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and tried to "out-crab" each other. I won, after I stepped in not one, but two, puddles of cat vomit. My husband has graciously agreed to let me have a solid hour free and clear of any household obligations so I could pamper myself- shower, shave, mask, hydrate, moisturize, calm, breathe. I looked in the mirror last night and I saw a woman of 40 staring back at me. I'm not one to flip out over my age, but I usually view myself as someone younger than my years. But this week, it's beginning to show.

First, let me say, my baby is all better. By that I mean, he's back to his normal self, which is of course wonderful, but the bounce from one to the other means changing pace for everyone around him, too, and I think it's taking us a little longer to "get well". A note of thanks to all of you who contacted me and commented on his speedy recovery. I truly appreciate your thoughts and concern.

My good friend, of about 35 years, is participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I urge you all to take a look at her post, here, and contribute what you can. It's probable that breast cancer has affected most of us in one way or another. Though these are trying economic times, it's true that any little bit can help.

We're hoping to catch Coraline this weekend. My son is really looking forward to it, as are the big kids (ie, us).

I'm fried. I know there was other things to discuss, but obviously, not very important.

OK, then, I'll leave you all now- have a great weekend!

Kudos to Andrew for giving you your hour.

I have a breast cancer post up today, too. Odd.

A sick child takes a huge toll on a mother. I am sure after a little rest and self pampering you will be looking like a spring chicken again! Hope you enjoy seeing Coraline, it looks like a winner of a story!

Respectfully disagree, you don't look anywhere near 40, my friend.

Glad you had the time to pamper and I hope you had fun at the movies.

Oh the cat vomit; extra hard after a child having rotovirus! So sorry it was a tough one, but I'm glad your son is better and that you were able to papmer yourself. I hear you on the fourty front; you'll be feeling your late 20's early 30's self again soon. Just get some rest and it will be a new day!
