We Interrupt This Program For A Commercial Break

I am still feeling a bit waffly about posting about the quilt show. I still can't find my "angle" today! But I would like to share my latest personal purchase. A little fluff, if you please.

After a rather turbulent flight and feeling happy to be alive, I landed in sunny Houston and instinctually reached for my shades. I pulled out my cruddy cheapos and cringed as always. I looked up, saw the Sunglass Hut. Saw the name Ralph. Walked up to the display. Reached out and grabbed exactly what I wanted. Tried them on. Liked. Bought.

I'm sure I made my salesguy's day. Easiest transaction he probably ever had.

I bought the most awesomest pair of Ralph Lauren (Ralph) sunglasses about 5 years ago. They lasted years until they finally gave up, which considering I used them regularly, it was a testament to their quality. They were also fabulous looking and I got lots of compliments on them. When they finally died (oh, and I still have the carcass!) I searched eBay for them and lost the bid in the last second. At that point I didn't like anything else that seemed more "affordable" and went for temporary cheap sunglasses, but I got hooked in the cycle of replacing them with another pair of cheapies, and never ever was I completely satisfied or sold on them.

So, I learned a lesson and decided to put my knowledge into action on this day. Cheap glasses get treated like cheap glasses because they are already half way to imminent destruction. Quality glasses get treated like quality and I hold something of value in my hand, I'm careful with them. As with most things, you totally get what you pay for. And I am certain I have spent over $90 on cheap shades in the last year... I vow never to do that again. But I probably won't have to worry about this for a few years anyway.

Haha! Nice... Last year I purchased some Ralph suns, but I'm a prescription wearer :) Those suckers are worth every penny - they are the first pair of suns I've ever had.

I've been in a bad cycle of Target sunglasses for the last few years. You make a compelling argument!

I get mine at the Dollar Tree. I must have 10 pair scattered here and there. Just can't pay the big bucks!

That's the one thing I have learned and remembered from growing up: our eyes are so important, it's best to pay a little bit more (if one can) for good sunglasses than lose your sight years later. Yes, I did tell mom she was right :)

I can relate! I bought a pair of Tom Ford's last year, and I haven't looked back. They get banged around, but I LOVE them.

I'm such a sunglasses snob! Me, who breaks or loses anything important is soooo careful with my $200 sunglasses! It's such a worthwhile investment when you realize the difference between good lenses and the crap ones. I had my Maui Jim's for nearly four years before I finally indulged myself for the honeymoon on new Ray Ban's...my faves! Your new shades are super sassy and very glam!

That is so true! I'm still in my cheap glasses cycle. I may not be able to break too soon because I just had to order 'real' glasses (never had them before) for reading and ouch they were expensive. I like you new shades!

These are great sunglasses. I have a pair from Ann Taylor (not so pricey because I'm so cheap when it comes to accessories). I love these sunglasses and have had them for 3 years now. When you find something you like stick with it.

I agree great sunglasses are the best and since I wear them everytime I step outside it's best to invest in what you really like. I had a pair of burberry for three years that bit the dust. Now I have Anne Klein that I adore and hope lasts at least three years.
