Second comment - I forgot the visual artist part on the first one. I choose you today because I love your interpretation of nature. The trees have been my favorite so far, though I haven't used that fabric yet - soon, and I really love the muted tones you use in your work. The designs are very soothing and yet a bit fun in the whimsical way you portray the parts of the plants. Thanks!

I love all the designers at Marimekko. The things they do with bold graphic designs on textiles continues to blow my mind. There are the classics of Maija & Kristina Isola and lots of awesome younger designers like Anna Danielsson.

Congrats on the new collection...everything looks wonderful! No chance you're doing an reprints of the tea towel calendar, is there? I was out of town for a bit and not keeping up with the blogs while I was gone. So sorry to see they're already sold out!

My favorite visual artist is Emily Carr. Very famous here in Canada for her and vivid landscapes of the West Coast. She was also an exceptionally talented writer, and wrote many personal stories about her life and work as an artist on Vancouver Island. In many ways she could be described as the Canadian equivalent of Georgia O'keefe. She was an eccentric individual who never married and loved animals. She was especially well know for her pet monkey.

I have a few that I like, but especially Liechtenstein and Escher.

Crossing my fingers for the mushroom fabric!

My favorite visual artists is Nancy Crow
http://www.nancycrow.com/

I love textile art and Nancy's work and her dedication to making quilting, long before it was accepted, as an art form truly inspires me. If you ever get a chance to visit Athens, Ohio in the summer you have to make a trip to the "dairy barn." She began this quilt exhibit long ago and the exhibit rotates by year whether there will be art or traditional quilts shown. Both are amazing.

It would be very easy to see your textiles in some of the quilts displayed there.

Take care

At the moment my favourite visual artist (of whom I have a magazine reproduction next to my laptop) is Linden Frederick. The image I'm looking at is called Wong's and it's an oil on linen, although it is so realistic that I would have guessed that it is a photograph. I am drawn to it because it represents an intriguing facet of American culture -- lone buildings or structures in the middle of nowhere.

This fabric is sweetly alluring. I can't pick one artist, but Georgia O'Keefe is in the running.!
Have a great day. You can contact me through this blog I just created to start on my new creative journey.

Don't count this as an entry. I left one on the 17 but forgot my email address. So here it is just in case. cdsp@juno.com

My favorite visual artist is my daughter, Audrey. But on a more global scale my heart belongs to Vincent (Van Gogh, that is). Thanks for the giveaway!

Hey! Thanks for the giveaway!

So, choosing a favorite artist is like... choosing a favorite record!! Virtually impossible!! I'll say that the pieces I was most mooved by seeing live were Klimt's. Also love Nan Goldin and am totally into japanese artists (most of them around Murakami), like Yoshitomo Nara, Aya Takano and recently discovered Erina Matsui.
Finish by saying thatttt.... I'm really proud of my boyfriend's, Jorge Leal, work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jorgeleal/

Just one more thing: great portuguese artists in http://www.anamnese.pt/?projecto=az

my favorite visual artist is my step-brother Eric Galbreath: http://erictgalbreath.com/

You don't have a lot of choices for identity, so I'm forced to use a no longer active blogger account. I currently live at http://myhalfofthebrain.com and my email is melissa at myhalfofthebrain dot com

I just can't get enough of Frida Kahlo - for her art, her life, her passion, her colors

Georgia O'Keefe (especially her lilies) is a close second.

The fabrics are gorgeous! I love Cezanne, he painted my native region of Provence.

Right now I'm going to say Denyse Schmidt as my artist instead of someone more conventional or classical.

I know everyone says this, but I love Van Gogh. I can get lost in the visceral, tangible explosion of colours on his canvases for hours.

I have to say Marimekko. My mother had many items when I was child and just seeing any of it around now takes me right back.
In fact I've started picking up some things of my own here and there too.

Definately gonna have to go with Dali here.

P.S. I <3 Giveaways, I'm in!

My 7-year-old and I are on a huge Virginia Lee Burton kick right now. He's discovering "style," and hers is lovely, very homey and innocent.

I love N.A. Noel, Ansel Adams. My friend Casey Fay. I am also inspired by fabric right now; I love Heather Bailey, Sandi Henderson, and Anna Maria Horner.
This is fun!

My favorite artist is Felix Hofmann.

A lot of illustrations of the Grimm fairy tale are drawn.

I love to read them with my children.

It's so hard to choose one favorite visual artist! The first one that comes to mind is Roger Ballen.

Love the new fabric line! I don't have one particular favorite visual artist, rather a favorite style. I love Ukiyo-e (like Hiroshige and Hokusai) for how this style illustrates the simple beauty in everyday life. I like many of the French pre-impressionists too, for the same reason.

Ansel Adams is by far one of my favorite photographers. I love the outdoors and his work inspires me to see new places and learn new things. oh, to have a room with his b&ws... hmmm someday :)

and if I can choose a children's book author/illustrator as well.. Jan Brett is by far my favorite. I could sit for HOURS to inspect her work and see all of the surprises you find within.

crossing my fingers that I might win!! :)

Sorry, I noticed today that the e-mail I posted was incorrect! I deleted the other comment, hope you don't mind...
Anyway, the original comment:
"Well, it's hard to pick just ONE favourite... but I think Marguerite Keyes (http://mossstories.com/marguerite/) has some really nice stuff."
