I felt the pull today to do another giveaway. Maybe it's because I've had a nice little upswing in linen swatch sales- possibly due to the release of Dandelion- or maybe it's just everyone's feelin' Summery Linen-y Goodness these days. I've chosen three of my Art Nouveau inspired prints to make a tidy little 3pk collection for this drawing: Lily of the Valley, Wild Mushrooms, and Dandelion (a $27 value).
I've got a few more print ideas a-brewin' for this series and this is where you come in.
Les Rules:
1/ Leave a single comment below giving me a suggestion for another "earthly delight" motif. Keep in mind, it's got to grow from the earth. That said, sky's the limit on suggestions! Name as many or as few as you like.
2/ Only one comment per person- I will have to delete any duplicate posts in the name of fairness.
3/ Make sure to leave an email or traceable link back to you.
4/ Anyone in the world can enter.
5/ If the winner doesn't claim their prize within 72 hours, I will draw another number.
Drawing will be by random number generator (my 7yr old is no longer interested in my schemes, it seems) on Sunday, June 29th at 9:00 pm EST.
89 lovely notes:
I love the colors of red and orange that are mixed in with our dandelions. They're not Indian Paintbrush like I always called them as a kid though. I'm not sure what they are, but pretty. I always liked picking milkweed and popping open the pods too.
I'd like to see lavender or thistle. I think the purples and pinks mixed with the brown linen would be lovely! -- Michele
How about poppies, daisies or buttercups. I can imagine those making nice additions to your collection. :)
I would love to see Irises! Mucha used them many times in his paintings and they were the first thing that popped in my head when I read your post.
I love the photos of the fabric - very very pretty :)
I love linen fabric and your designs are so pretty. I think something with the purple coneflower or those wild flowers that have a white puff ball. I remember picking them as a child and blowing on them and watching the white seedlings blow away.
I firmly believe that I have not won any of your previous giveaways because this one was meant to be mine...So ideas....mmmm....I know, I know something with ferns!
Love this collection! May I suggest bittersweet, chickadees, crickets, forget-me-nots, chipmunks
i' love moss.. how to do it on fabric.. that's the trick. lve these swatches!!!!!!!!
Oh, I would love to see Bleeding Hearts! But anything you would design would be wonderful.
I didn't read the other comments so I might be suggesting a duplicate. I'm thinking peonies in lots of colors; or...day lilies.
For non-flowers, broccoli or eggplant.
Hmmm...I'd love to see your take on some unfurling ferns or a forest of white birch trees.
Oh, and you can convo me through Etsy http://ModernClassicsPrints.etsy.com
How about Cypress Splurge or Marsh Marigolds? Your fabrics are beautiful.
I love bachelor's buttons (the shape and the smoky blue color) and Queen Anne's lace and rows and rows of grapevines in a vineyard. You could call it Upstate (for upstate New York).
What about the seed pods from various plants such as star anise pods, maple tree pods, poppy pods, lotus pods, pea pods, etc.?
I've seen a lot of lemon prints lately--really bright and bold, but something a little more subdued would be quite pretty too...taking something very popular and putting a new twist on it.
Trees--I love trees, willow trees, maple trees--my new fave gold chain (Laburnum) trees, our neighbor has a small one and it is beautiful!
I think strawberries could make another pretty pattern. :)
red poppies....like the ones on my shop:) I think red and yellow would look so cute!
I thought too that ferns would be great or Poppys (that is my daughters name though so I am biased.) Also the fan fungus that you get on really old rainforest trees has a great shape to lend to art nouveo styling.
oh, oh, oh...ow about sunflowers? From my great state of Kansas?
Snapdragons-My dad always grew this in his yard every year. He passed away eleven years ago, and every time I see those flowers, I'm sad and happy all at once. They are so special to me, so of course I had to suggest them.
Carla
When I think of Art Nouveau the following plants come to mind - Grapes & Grape Leaves, Tulips, Daffodils, Pussy Willow, Orchid, Bullrush. I am also very fond of seed pods like Poppies etc.
How about artichokes? Could be pretty interesting.
I'd like to see oats or ferns.
(My e-mail is in my profile.)
I think ferns would be really nice, or something growing under the sea maybe?
I like the fern idea people have been having, they have such lovely structure to the fronds.
Anything leafy...olive branches migth be nice and grasses in flower? xx
I've given this some thought and here is my list:
Sweet peas, honeysuckle, clementis, or ivy for a vine-like design; orchids--so much variety (watch The Orchid Thief for inspiration); astilbe; and irises (too bad it's past bloom time at the Presby Iris Gardens, that would have made a good reconnaissance trip!)
I love some of the other suggestions you got. Pussywillows would be fabulous! Buttercups, poppies, and ferns would be brilliant!
Good Morning! Look at you go with giveaways!
I'm loving peonies and daisies, clematis and forget-me-nots these days :)
xo
April
Oh boy a giveaway! Lots of great ideas out there. I like cattails, poppys, bleeding hearts, spider mums, and fuschia.
Trillium, please
Love the dandelion, btw
I have to enter, don't usually enter these things, but love your work.
sweet peas. asparagus. raspberries.
hi michelle! I love this series of prints! How about chestnuts, ginkgo leaves, fiddlehead ferns, dragonflies, snails...
I can't wait to see what you come up with next :)
Nothing sets the heart racing like a giveaway. Delicate green maidenhair fern is very pretty (and earthly and delightful!).
Such a good idea! I love your prints!
here are a few ideas, although some of them don't "grow" from the ground per-se...
1. lightning bugs and glow worms
2. snails ( I think you could do wonders with the different shades of brown!)
3. I love lazytcrochet's idea of milkweed pods
4. bleeding hearts (the white or pink ones)
5. blueberries on twigs
How about purple/blue cornflower?
my suggestion would be daisies, these could work in a number of colourways?
: )
Herbs or farmer type plants (soybeans, corn, wheat) would be fun to see. I love all of your prints so I'm sure whatever you choose will be gorgeous!
I agree with wheat and corn and grains.
I also am partial to flowers like Lilies, irises and gerbera daisies.
Ok somebody already put ferns but that was the first thing that came to my mind. I also loved the idea of lavender that somebody else put. I think that would match your earthly delights well. Or I don't know the technical name but I call them bells of ireland and they are this really beautiful green plant.
I think some type of seaweed would be very cool. Check them out, lots of different kinds. Some are long and flow in and out with the tides...
I'd like to see a Queen Anne's Lace print. They are one of my favorites. (Hmmm...I seem to say that about all plants and flowers. I guess I can't pick just one favorite.)
I really like the three prints, especially the mushrooms
Lovely prints and great giveway idea.
I love the mushrooms and would love to see more all different shapes colours and sizes, mixed in with some forest flowers, that would be a fun challenge!
eee!
1.) succulents
2.) ivy
3.) dandelions
4.) bamboo shoots
5.) cat tails
6.) fruit-bearing plants like strawberries, lemons, etc...
Rice is so neat, I'm thinking the grain itself. And I think rosemary is a very nice plant.
Your blog is perfect would not do anything different!

I am in awe of these art nouveau inspired designs. So beautiful and loving the colours.
I've been really loving herbs lately. The images conjure up the memory of smells for me so I'm thinking crisp, shades of green, swirly and delicate tips and wee flowers that bloom on the tips.
fantastic ideas...hmmm, peapods, oversized with petite curls or toadstools are my vote. thanks for visiting my blog. i can see a bit of 'yu' in your work, lovely inspiration. i've seen your comments on mrs. french's blissful site as well. so glad we've 'met'! i'll visit again.
I love plants that grow around the ocean - sea oats (green & natural), dune sunflower (beautiful yellow and green), blue lupine (wonderfully blue)
how about roots? I saw an art nouveau building the other day with intricate roots carved into stone and peeking out behind the roots were dragon/aligator-like creatures.
Well, I'm a big fan (and firm believer in) in acorns and little (and big) pinecones--
would look so sweet in shades of brown on pale green maybe.
Onions. They have they have beautiful flowers and roots.

Peas? Poppies, Water Locus pods (i am trying to do cards with those)
I love your fabric!
elkjohnson@gmail.com
I would love to see your rendition of ferns!
How about mixing a little fauna in with your flora? Like a little mouse hiding under a flower. Too cute? Some bugs then. I also love thistles--nice and spikey.
Oh lovely! I would love to enter. I'd love to see you make a print with birds as inspiration.
Oooh, how very exciting. I'd love to suggest either purple coneflower or lupines in muted purple and green.
I also love the idea of a buttercup-poppy combination.
I think ferns would fit in well with the current designs (which are so fun, and have a great retro feel to them!). Chives would be kind of neat (with their purple flowers); lavender would be *perfect* for your sachets... truilliums, ladyslippers... oh so many choices, but I'll stop there! ;)
OMG...I love your fabric!!! I just found it through Bonghi Vestiti's blog. I absolutely adore all of it! :)
So , some ideas...hmmmn...
pussy willows,poppy pods,
pomegranates and/or seeds, cotton fields, eucalyptus, typha plants (AKA: cat-tales), lotus plants or pods, palms from palm trees, bamboo, lavender...I can't think of anymore. I'm happy to have just found out about your shop! Cheers!
Yeah---hope I win!!!
Have you thought about bluebells? They have such a cool shape--the tall stalk, the drooping little bells and the spiky foilage--that I think would lend it self well to your style of art!
Smiles, Karen
Lovely blog... i love it.
Congratulations
Do acorns count? We have so much inspiration growing right now...all kinds of vines with purple, white, or pink flowers; bottle-brush plants that are white/orange/red (no idea of the name); fairy rings of petite mushrooms; and tons and tons of early grains with their feathery heads.
Thanks for another opportunity! My suggestion... I see someone's already suggested acorns. I was thinking pinecones or those little helicopter like seepods. I hope that helps! Please email me at e.gin.ee at gmail dot com
Corn-field in a hot day and some shade here and there
Lately I've been loving anything with fiddlehead ferns, orchids or ginko leaves - so pretty!
I'd like to see cilantro, corn, and pansies. Very pretty fabrics, by the way!
Meadow rue. Corydalis. Thistle.
Hi,
Great fabric! How about pansies and hostas? Not the little pansies but the big velvet faced beauties! Ahh.. SPRINGTIME!
Love your fabric!
How about long swaying strands of sea kelp!! (with optional bubbles or fishes)
In your style I could see:
Columbine, Trillium, cattails, or black eyed susans.
i love ferns and cat-tails...oh...queen annes lace. and pussywillows! birch forests......ahhh, i wish i lived in the country. have you done any of these yet?
I've seen Cicada bugs crawling out from the earth and they are pretty awesome to look at.
All different kinds of meadow grasses would be lovely.
Moss or lichen covered sticks are fun to collect on a hike in the woods as are all different sorts of pine cones.
Mimosa trees! Those aren't represented anywhere nearly enough. Cat tails. Thistle. Allium. Irises. (And your current ones in this line are gorgeous).
Earthly delights? Well, my inner science geek is telling me to suggest something like the microscopic stucture of a diatom or a spore (I think your wild mushroom print inspired me).
why not do a print of the flax plant?
RYC: But YOU made it happen. I can't thank you enough, my dear.
4 Leaf Clovers would be awesome on fabric!
:)
Thanks for the giveaway!
Earthly Delight Subject Ideas:
Bark Texture
Assortment of Herbs
Lavender
Roots
Heirloom Vegetables

I live in Alaska, and we have a lovely weed here called Fireweed. It is beautiful, hot pink, and signals the start of fall. When the blooms reach the top, it is the fall season. It would be lovely on fabric!
I would like to see orchids or bleeding hearts :)
Queen Anne's Lace....my favorite weed. And, since it is hard to find one with a red center....a red center sprinkled in every now and then.
Poppies and forget me knots...they are always so lively, not necessarily together of course. Lavender is a classic but crocuses and iris too!
I love the lily of the valley. Some additions might include ...lupines, poppies, foxglove, irises, violets ...etc.
I really want to find some fabric that has hellicopter seed pods. Do you know what I'm talking about? I don't know what tree they come from.
How about Echinops? Not only is the name great, but they look great, too. Tons of round balls with interesting shaped leaves.
Hi Michelle....how about magnolia (the blossom is so creamy), dahlias or allium....maybe around Christmas, holly w/berries...I'm sure you'll come up with a great new design... you are amazing!
i'm sure half of the commenters suggested it, but i think you'd do a great job with poppies. or how about pussy willow? oh, or olive brances, with olives?
valentina
Garlic mustard! I've been pulling it from my backard all summer (it's highly invasive). I do some sunpainting and was thinking about how I could possibly wilt it to use for sunpainting but not destroy the crisp lines. It's got this weird segmented stem top... Well, you'd have to google it to understand.
Anyway, LOVE your work. Everything you do is totally *droolworthy* so whatever you decide I'm sure will be lovely!
The choices from my garden would be large orange poppies, lily of the valley and snails.
feathered tulips
Your work is wonderful! Congrats on all you have going on. It's inspiring!
How about lady's mantle leaves(alchemilla mollis) complete with dewdrops? like this pic of mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitkabbit/2458492064/in/set-72157604838355439/
or, jack-in-the pulpits, catkins, or for a really cool color combination, rose campion (Lychnis coronaria) with those magenta blooms and silver grey stems and leaves. mm someone already suggested bluebells which i adore . um, fuschias too or maybe mistletoe for the winter months? and I second the lucky clover comment ^_^
